Workshops

Ba Gua Sword

Date: none scheduled

Location: TBD

Fee: $50

You will learn the Ba Gua sword form of Sun Xikun, which I learned from my Ba Gua teacher, Luo Dexiu. It is a relatively short sequence that is dynamic, easy to learn, practical, and great exercise. We will also cover a set of basic sword movements that will break down sword work into useful pieces. To the extent that time allows, we will do some two-person work. We will not be using sharp swords, but rather wooden, telescopic, or blunt swords for safety. The swords are `standard’ Chinese double-edged swords. They are light and designed for nimble, quick movements. No previous training is necessary.

Chi Gung (Qigong) Workshop:

Eight Section Brocade
Date: none scheduled
Location: TBD
Fee: $45

“…to simply rest awareness in the body, initially in the lower Dantian, and allow the process of cultivation to proceed naturally and effortlessly.”                 -Gunther Weill Ph.D

The Eight Section Brocade Chi Gung set is a general health-focused exercise for harmonizing body, breath and mind. The workshop will cover:

  • General introduction to Chi Gung
  • The difference between Tai Chi and Chi Gung
  • The Eight Section Brocade set
  • Three levels or methods of practice
  • Some adaptations for sitting practice

There will be a handout to help you continue to practice on your own. To register or find out more, phone (780) 504 5022, or fill out the form on the contact page.
